AAJT-S is a pneumatic bleeding control system designed to control life-threatening haemorrhage in anatomical areas where a conventional extremity tourniquet cannot be effectively applied. The device is intended for bleeding control in junctional areas, where major blood vessels are located close to the torso, as well as for pelvic stabilisation and, according to the manufacturer’s intended use, bleeding control in the abdominal region.
The system operates by applying controlled external pressure. A wedge-shaped pneumatic bladder is inflated using a hand pump and, depending on the selected application site, generates the pressure required to compress major blood vessels or stabilise the pelvis. An integrated automatic pressure relief valve prevents pressure from exceeding 300 mmHg and helps ensure controlled use of the system.
The AAJT-S is designed to allow a single system to be applied to different anatomical regions, making it suitable for situations where the source of bleeding is too proximal for a standard extremity tourniquet to be applied effectively.
According to the manufacturer, the AAJT-S may remain applied for up to four hours in junctional regions and for up to one hour when positioned over the mid-abdominal region.
Due to its specialised intended use and operating principle, the system is intended for professional use in situations where rapid and effective control of life-threatening haemorrhage is required until further treatment or casualty evacuation can be provided.
