iTClamp is a bleeding control device that works differently from tourniquets or pressure dressings. When applied directly over a wound, the device approximates the wound edges and helps create a sealed compartment. Blood accumulating within this space forms a haematoma, increasing internal pressure at the wound site, helping control bleeding, and supporting the formation of a natural blood clot.
iTClamp is designed for rapid application. When used correctly, application takes approximately 10 seconds. Once applied, the device keeps the wound edges approximated without the need for continuous manual pressure, allowing the responder to immediately continue assessing the casualty and perform other necessary interventions.
This mechanism is particularly useful in situations where rapid bleeding control and the ability to free the responder’s hands for further care are important.
