Description

Slack in the strap is one of the most common reasons a tourniquet is applied incorrectly and fails to generate the pressure required to control bleeding. The SAM XT tourniquet features the integrated TRUFORCE™ buckle, designed specifically to address this issue. Once the specified circumferential compression force is reached, the buckle automatically locks, helping eliminate strap slack before the windlass is tightened.
Proper initial strap tension helps reduce variability in the number of windlass turns required to stop bleeding. This makes correct tourniquet application easier to teach consistently during training and allows the device to be used with greater confidence in critical situations.
The SAM XT is designed to control life-threatening extremity bleeding and is recommended by the U.S. Department of Defense Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC).
