The self-adhesive simulation is applied directly to a casualty actor’s skin and creates a realistic representation of an open fracture, allowing trainees to practise injury assessment, select appropriate interventions, and develop their skills under conditions that more closely resemble real-life situations.
According to the manufacturer, the simulated wound can be removed and transferred from one casualty actor to another without additional preparation, making it suitable for repeated use across different training scenarios.
If the self-adhesive surface becomes contaminated and adhesion is reduced, the simulation can be washed with warm soapy water. Once properly cleaned and dried, the self-adhesive backing regains its adhesive properties.
