Cosinuss c-med° alpha is a compact, in-ear wearable sensor weighing just 8.6 g, designed to monitor key vital signs. The device measures peripheral blood oxygen saturation (SpO₂), pulse rate, and body temperature, and wirelessly transmits the collected data to a compatible system.
The ear canal is a suitable location for monitoring physiological parameters because it is close to the body’s core, while an in-ear sensor is less affected by movement than measuring devices attached to the finger. This is particularly useful when vital signs need to be monitored over extended periods or while the person is moving.
Photoplethysmography (PPG) technology is used to measure SpO₂ and pulse rate. The sensor detects red and infrared light signals, while body temperature is measured using an infrared sensor in the ear canal. The collected data is transmitted via Bluetooth 5.0.
According to the manufacturer, the battery provides approximately 24 hours of operation, depending on the usage mode. In standard mode, the c-med° alpha performs a 3-minute measurement every 15 minutes, allowing physiological parameters to be monitored periodically over time.
Cosinuss c-med° alpha combines the monitoring of three key vital signs, wireless data transmission, and the practicality of an in-ear wearable sensor in one compact device.
