Penetrating chest trauma can damage the chest wall and create an open channel between the external environment and the chest cavity. When the injury is caused by a penetrating object or projectile that passes through the body, there may be two wounds rather than one – an entry wound and an exit wound. In such situations, it is important to rapidly assess the entire chest and properly seal any open wounds identified.
SAM Combo is designed specifically for such situations. One compact package contains two chest seals with different functions: a vented SAM Chest Seal with the TRUFLOW valve and a non-vented occlusive SAM Chest Seal. This combination provides a practical solution when two penetrating chest wounds need to be sealed at the same time, without requiring two separately packaged chest seals.
TRUFLOW Valve
The vented SAM Chest Seal features the TRUFLOW valve system. It is designed so that, once the seal adheres securely to the chest, air and fluids can escape through specially designed channels.
The chest seal is designed for use in emergency situations where it is essential not only to seal the wound quickly but also to ensure reliable adhesion to the skin.
