SAM Pelvic Sling II is a pelvic stabilisation device designed for professional use to stabilise suspected pelvic ring fractures and reduce pelvic volume. Effective pelvic stabilisation depends on the amount of circumferential force applied, yet accurately assessing this force by feel or visual judgement alone can be difficult in prehospital settings.
SAM Pelvic Sling II addresses this challenge with its patented AUTOSTOP buckle technology, which helps control the amount of compression applied. Once a circumferential force of 150 N is reached, two indicator tabs deploy from the buckle and an audible click confirms that the intended compression level has been achieved. This design helps reduce the risk of insufficient or excessive compression and provides a more standardised application in demanding prehospital environments.
The one-piece SAM Pelvic Sling II is designed to stabilise the pelvis, particularly in suspected “open-book” pelvic ring fractures where rapid reduction of pelvic instability is essential. The sling is positioned at the level of the greater trochanters, allowing stabilising force to be applied at the appropriate anatomical level.
Its compact construction and controlled compression mechanism make it suitable for emergency medical services, emergency care, rescue operations, tactical medicine, and other prehospital settings where rapid, consistent, and controlled pelvic stabilisation is required.
